Here is a helpful tool for homeowners who have lost/suffered damage to your personal property.   You should make sure to photograph each item of personal property for which you intended to report and claim a loss of your personal property.   The property should be safeguarded and protected until your insurance company has had the opportunity to inspect the damaged items.   In the column of the report which asks the value of the damaged/destroyed personal property, the purchase price should be entered, and any receipts should be provided if you have them.  If you do not have the receipts, you can use you recollection or look online for the items and estimate the value.  Save any information/research you do for each item and attach the proof/receipts and/or the research to the personal property inventory form that is provided for your use and submission.
